BOYD, Arthur Donald

Arthur was one of the eighteen Moree district men who joined the First Contingent of the Kurrajongs on their journey to the Narrabri and Armidale camps in 1916. When he enlisted he was a thirty four year old labourer, married with several children. He had previously been rejected due to eyesight.

As a member of the 33rd Battalion, C Company, he left Australia in May 1916 on HMAT A74 Marathon. After training in England he was transferred to the 2nd Battalion and sent to France where he was wounded in February 1917, evacuated to England for treatment and returned to France the following year. On 24 June 1918 he was badly wounded again and subsequently died at the 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station on 7 July.

Private Boyd was buried at the Communal Cemetery at Legnuennes near St Omer, France.
