MITCHELL, Raynor

Raynor’s birth to John and Louisa Mitchell was registered at Warialda in 1894.  His family lived at Spring Valley, Bogamildi Road, Warialda. He was a twenty two year old Labourer when he enlisted at Warialda in January 1916 and joined the First Contingent of the Kurrajongs on their way to Camp.

He became a member of the 33rd Battalion which trained at Armidale and Rutherford.  Whilst at Rutherford he was medically discharged due to stiffness in his right knee.  Some two years prior to enlisting he injured his knee and spent 3 months in Warialda Hospital.  The injury appears to have caused him to limp.

Raynor returned to Warialda and in 1923 married Ruby Hall.  He was living in Inverell when he died in 1956.
