CHEETHAM, Wilfred

Wilfred’s birth to William and Jane Cheetham was registered in Sydney in 1890.. His father obtained a Settlement Purchase farm on the Myall Creek Estate in 1906.

Wilfred was a twenty six year old Farmer when he enlisted at Inverell in January 1917.  He joined the 2nd Battalion, 25th Reinforcement and left Australia for England on HMAT A20 Hororata in June 1917.  He arrived at Liverpool, England in March but did not go to France until the following year. During July 1918 he attended a Brigade Signal School.

Wilfred returned home in 1919 and by 1925 was a Farmer in the Dalby District of Queensland.

His name is inscribed on the Delungra Roll of Honor and the new Anzac Memorial at Delungra.
