KIDD, Vincent and Cedric

Vincent and Cedric were two of the children born to William and Matilda Kidd in the Paterson district of NSW. They may have been living and or working with their elder brother William at Delungra when they decided to enlist.

Cedric was the first to enlist in September 1914 in Sydney. He was twenty four and gave his occupation as Station Hand. He joined the 13th Battalion, H Company and left Australia for Egypt on the ship A38 Ulysses in December 1914.  He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 7 August 1915 and has no known grave. His name is recorded on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli.

Vincent enlisted at Broadmeadow in May 1916 when he was twenty six. He joined the 36th Battalion, 4th Reinforcement and left Australia on HMAT A30 Borda in October 1916. The Battalion arrived in England in January and was sent to France in April 1917. Three months later Vincent was accidentally wounded in action and returned to England for treatment of a gunshot wound to his hand. He came back to Australia in January 1918 and was medically discharged. He died at Dungog NSW in 1975.

Vincent and Cedric have their names recorded on the Delungra Roll of Honor and on the new Anzac Memorial Gate at the park in Delungra.
