EDMONDSTONE, Charles Edward

Charles was born in Victoria, the eldest son of Charles and Mary Edmondstone. He had lived in the Inverell district for some years before the War.

Charles was a thirty eight year old Grazier living with his wife and children at Atholwood, Bonshaw NSW when he enlisted at Inverell in April 1917. He joined the 1st Light Horse Regiment, 32nd Reinforcement and left Australia for Egypt on HMAT A73 Commonwealth in November 1917. Six weeks later he arrived at Suez and served in Egypt. The following year he became ill with malaria and returned to Australia in April 1919.

After his discharge he returned to the Bonshaw district. Over the next few years his health was poor and he died in hospital in Brisbane in 1922.
