BRENNAN, Edward

Edward’s birth was registered at Inverell in 1894. He was a son of Edward and Rose Brennan who lived in the Howell area near Inverell. Edward enlisted in Brisbane in December 1915 when he was twenty-one years old. His enlistment form records he was a single man working as an Engine Driver.

Edward joined the Tunnelling Companies, 2nd Reinforcement as a Sapper. His unit departed Australia for England on HMAT A26 Armadale in July 1916. After several weeks in England, his Mining unit was sent to France in October 1916. He returned to Australia and was medically discharged in July 1919. Edward’s name is recorded on the Howell Public School Roll of Honour.
