HOLDER, Edward Richard

Edward’s birth To Thomas and Rose Holder was registered at Inverell in 1884. He was a thirty one year old Labourer when he enlisted at Broadmeadow NSW in June 1916. He joined the Light Trench Mortar Battery, 5th Reinforcement and sailed from Australia for England on HMAT A67 Orsova in December 1916. After arrival, he was transferred to the 17th Light Trench Mortar Battery and sent to France in September. Five months later, due to ill health, he went back to England for treatment in hospital. Edward returned to Australia and was medically discharged in August 1918. He was given a ‘Welcome Home’ at Dinton Vale the following month. His older brother, David, also served during WWI.
