MOORE, John (Jack)

John, a son of Thomas and Mary Moore, enlisted at Wauchope NSW in August 1916 when he was twenty two. He became a member of the 1st Pioneer Battalion, 7th Reinforcement and sailed from Australia for England on HMAT A30 Borda in October 1916. After training in England, he was sent to France in October 1917. Like many others he suffered influenza during 1918. At the end of that year he was transferred to the 1st Division Train and appointed Driver. He returned to Australia and was discharged in October 1919. After the War he married and lived with his wife and family at Ashford NSW. He and his wife are buried in the Ashford Cemetery.

John has his name recorded on the Ashford Honor Roll.
