TOONE, Albert Francis

Albert was a twenty-six-year-old Police Constable at Ashford NSW when he enlisted in Sydney in October 1914. His parents, Francis and Elizabeth lived at Bowral, NSW.

Albert became a member of the 2nd Light Horse Brigade, Headquarters and sailed from Australia for Egypt on the transport ship A29 Suevic in December 1914. He served at Gallipoli where he was promoted to Corporal in August 1915. He became ill and was sent to England for treatment before returning to his unit the following year when he was promoted to Sergeant. Albert returned to Australia in February 1919 and discharged. He returned to work with the police force in NSW. Albert died at Tamworth in 1953. His name is recorded on the Ashford Honor Roll.
