CANNONS, Edward Wilfred

Edward was born in 1894 at Moree NSW to Isaac and Minnie Cannons. When he enlisted at Liverpool in January 1915 he stated that he was a twenty three year old Station hand. Six months after joining the 7th Light Horse Regiment, 6th Reinforcement, he sailed from Sydney on the ship HMAT A66 Uganda.

Edward served fifty six days at Gallipoli until being Killed in Action on 27 November 1915. He was one of 409 men buried at Shell Green Cemetery, Gallipoli.

His parents lived at Inverell where Private Edward Wilfred Cannons has his name is inscribed on the Honor Roll and Cenotaph. In 1919 he was one of the 215 district men for whom a memorial tree was planted in Kurrajong Parade
