McCROHON, Henry Noel

Henry was a son of William and Frances McCrohon of Howell NSW. He was an eighteen-year-old Labourer at Copeton when he enlisted at Armidale in May 1916. He had been in the local cadets for two years. As he was under age and his parents were deceased, his Guardian gave permission for Henry to serve overseas.

Henry joined the 4th Reinforcements Camel Corps and sailed from Australia for Egypt on RMS Mooltan in August 1916. During 1918 he was treated for malaria. He returned to Australia and was medically discharged in August 1919. He lived in Sydney where he died in 1928.

Henry’s name is recorded on the Copeton Roll of Honor and the Howell Public School Roll of Honour. His brother William also served during the War.
